The
Apache Del Rio Intertribal works with public, charter, parochial and
private schools, libraries and civic groups by presenting educational
programs tailored for each individual group. All materials
presented are carefully displayed in a manner for the target audience.
Each presenter is either a member of Apache del Rio or is a guest
presenter, invited from another Native American Indian Organization, and
donates their time and talent to ensure that a quality program is
provided.
The
Apache del Rio Intertribal is comprised of Native American Indians from
many different Nations and individuals who, though not of Native
American ancestry, share a strong interest in ensuring that the culture,
heritage and traditions of the Native American Indians are accurately
passed on to our children, the general public and future generations.
Presentations
include, but are not limited to, the display(s) and descriptions of
tools, toys, musical instruments, food and clothing items traditionally
used by various Native American Indian Nations. Some items of
clothing and regalia used in these displays have been provided by
individual members of the organization strictly for use in educational
programs. Other items are privately owned, have been passed down
from generation to generation and are one of a kind items.
A
dance exhibition is usually included in each program, and the audience
is usually invited to participate in some portion of the performance.

We
are constantly looking for ways we can help out the community!
On
March 9th, 2007, Apache del Rio held a fundraiser in honor of the two children
found dead underneath a house on that day in San Antonio. The
proceeds were donated to The
Children's Shelter, a nationally accredited child welfare program
based in San Antonio. On March 20th, a letter of thanks was
received from Annette Rodriguez, Senior Vice President of Government and
Community Affairs at The Children's Shelter stating, "We
wholeheartedly thank you, on behalf of our staff and most importantly,
on behalf of the children who have found solace within our doors".
On
October 17th 2007, Apache del Rio participated in an educational program for
4th and 5th graders at Hopkins
Elementary with drumming, dancing and storytelling. On
March 19th, a letter of thanks was received from Julie Riedel stating, "We
thank you for coming and providing such a rich experience for our
kids. They talked about it all day...I hope you can come again".
On
February 9th, 2008, Apache del Rio participated in an educational
program at Medina
River Natural Area with drumming, dancing and storytelling. A
letter of thanks was received from the Educational Coordinator for the
Medina River Natural Area stating, "...the
Apache Del Rio Intertribal group honored us with [a] gift of drumming,
song, dance and storytelling".
